Training Academy FAQ

Is reasonable suspicion supervisor training required for CDL fleets?

Yes. FMCSA requires each person designated to supervise drivers and make reasonable-suspicion determinations to receive at least 60 minutes on alcohol misuse and 60 minutes on controlled-substances use before performing that function (49 CFR 382.603). Our supervisor course tracks and documents both hours, and the certificate is the proof employers keep on file.

Are these courses accepted for DOT compliance?

No DOT agency certifies or approves any training provider — companies claiming otherwise are misrepresenting how the rules work. Our courses are designed around the identified federal requirements. Each certificate states what the learner completed, while employers remain responsible for employer-specific materials, policies, practical demonstrations, and other applicable obligations.

How quickly do I receive my certificate?

Immediately. Pass the final exam (80% or higher, with retakes included) and your certificate prints on the spot with a unique verification ID.

Do the certificates expire?

Some courses, including FMCSA reasonable-suspicion supervisor training, generally do not have a federally mandated recurring interval. Other roles, including DOT urine collectors, BATs, and STTs, have separate refresher or requalification requirements identified in those courses.

Which course should I start with?

Fleet owners and safety managers: Supervisor Reasonable Suspicion and DER Training. New carriers: New Entrant DOT Compliance. One-truck businesses: the Owner-Operator courses. Collection sites and clinics: Collector Training and BAT & STT Training. Everyone else: call 980-655-4455 and we’ll point you right.

Do Consortium members get a discount on courses?

Yes. Active goMDnow Consortium members receive 30% off every Training Academy course — all 29 of them. Use your member discount code at checkout; if you need your code, call 980-655-4455. Not a member yet? Consortium membership is $99.00/year and includes this training discount along with your random pool, Clearinghouse support, and program documentation.

Is there team or fleet pricing?

Yes — seat bundles and multi-course packages for fleets, collection sites, and TPAs. Call 980-655-4455 for team pricing.

The honest fine print — because it's our sales pitch. No DOT agency certifies or approves training providers; any company claiming DOT certification or approval of its training is misrepresenting how the rules work. Our courses are designed around the identified federal requirements and must be paired with any required employer-specific materials, device training, or proficiency demonstrations, our certificates state exactly what you completed, and where hands-on proficiency is federally required (collectors, BATs, STTs), we say so up front — and offer live-video monitoring for mock sessions where the applicable rule and current DOT guidance permit that method. That's how goMDnow, an FMCSA-registered C/TPA, does everything.
